I'm excited to see what you'll make for me. My AO3 username is
DNWs
- porn
- incest (shared grandparents or closer)
- gore (canon-typical violence is fine, but keep injury descriptions minimally graphic)
- animal cruelty
- change of setting AUs (e.g., coffee shop/pirate/high school AU - canon divergence AUs fine)
Likes
- Worldbuilding - how did canon get to be the way it is? how do the nitty gritty parts of it work?
- Crack, especially crack treated seriously
- Characters being competent in their area of expertise
- Mystery/intrigue
- Missing scenes
- Hurt/comfort
- Fluff
- Hijinks
- Little details of canon
Likes for Medium Opt-Ins Requested in Multiple Fandoms
- In-Universe Documents (what in WorldbuildingEx would be termed "In-Universe Meta") - a great medium for worldbuilding-focused works! I love all forms of these, especially documents that peer into areas of canon that are more in the background. I'm most familiar with prompting for this type of medium thanks to WorldbuildingEx, so there are more specific prompts for this category than the others in the individual fandom sections.
- Conspiracy Board (requested for fandoms other than Mysterious Benedict Society) - I'm looking for outsider perspective with this. Characters not in the know can make Very Reasonable Assumptions about what's going on with the main characters, but that doesn't mean those assumptions are anywhere close to right. Maybe a mix of accuracy and wild misses?
- List of things (character) is not allowed to do - a perfect excuse for comedy! Many of these characters are teenagers, a population well known for making bad decisions, and I'd love to see their (canonical or not) poor choices dragged out in listicle format. (As for Honorverse - I'd love to see the things they got up to as teens/young adults at the academy or the choices they've made since get discussed, because while their bad ideas have gotten more sophisticated they've also not gotten any less terrible.)
- Poetry (requested for fandoms other than H.I.V.E.) - I love poetry because it can establish very specific moods with very few words. No preference for metered vs free verse; I really like when very structured styles (e.g., villanelle) use that rigidity to full effect but also appreciate how less structured formats allow ideas and language to flow more freely. I tend to prefer people over nature in terms of subjects. I'm particularly interested in in-universe poems (e.g., something a character wrote or a song they grew up singing).
- Art in general - I love seeing different styles of art and how other people visualize things! In terms of specific likes, I tend to prefer stylized (e.g., art deco, pixel art, medieval-style paintings) over realistic art styles and pieces with a clear sense of ~aesthetic.
- Comics - I like comics of all types - short, sweet scenes and faster, action-focused ones and simple visual gags.
- A Softer World-style panels/art - I think that the a softer world format is great for a gut punch, and have no preference of pre-existing comics with selected panels versus words of your own or art drawn by you versus official art (which I'm counting the Mysterious Benedict Society adaptation as)/public domain images.
- Fic/Comic/Fanart of My Fic (requested for fandoms other than Mysterious Benedict Society) - Honestly, I'm just curious to see how other people interact with/interpret things I've created. Any works under my name on AO3 are fair game; any art or fic opt ins that apply to your idea are fine. I have five works for H.I.V.E. under my main pseud here; two for 39 clues under the pseud Merry Madrigal here; and one for Honor Harrington under the pseud Plotbunny_Junction here.
The 39 Clues - Various Authors

Some general ideas, listed here because they apply to more than one of these characters
- I think the In-Universe Social Media/Reddit tags would be a great chance to add some outsider perspective. Trying to summarize portions of the plot/backstory (e.g., the Trent fire, any single portion of the Clue Hunt) in Reddit format would really highlight how out of step Cahill "normal" is with the rest of the world, as would an otherwise normal story with references tacked onto it at the end.
- Collectively, these characters have enough interpersonal tirefires to burn r/relationships to the ground
- Similarly, most of these characters would qualify for "Things I'm Not Allowed to Do in Cahill Command" lists, either independently or in tandem. (The adults have graduated from Skippy's List to the Evil Overlord List.)
- I'd be interested in seeing how they use social media in different ways! Jonah's is likely very curated since he's a public figure (and he's probably got at least one secret side account), Hamilton's is very Not (workout tips! pride flags! a cool bird he saw that morning!), Sinead's is all sorts of tech news, etc.
- AMA threads could go on a variety of topics - from celebrity status, to workout tips, to "I was victim to a massive libel incident/got abducted, AMA"
- References to Cahill activities they're trying to cover up, intentional derailments of anyone trying to ask
Fiske Cahill & Grace Cahill (39 Clues)
- Childhood adventures! Grace simultaneously getting into Cahill business and dealing with/caring for her younger sibling(s).
- Fiske growing up and coming to terms/dealing with his sister's reputation.
- How their relationship changed post-Fiske faking his death (or conspiracies related to it)
- I loved the bit at the end of Storm Warning about Dan and Fiske having the same reaction to Beatrice, and I wonder if Grace was ever reminded by Dan of her brother.
- Fiske's angsty teen poetry (to go with his angsty teen art)
Hamilton Holt & Madison Holt & Reagan Holt (39 Clues)
- Sports siblings! The Holt family dynamic manages to simultaneously be pretty supportive and deeply fucked up (particularly in the first series), and I'd love to see something exploring that.
- Bonding pre-Clue Hunt (particularly the twins doing stuff together) or adventures in restructuring the Branch after Into the Gauntlet
- The Holt children's Permanent Records™
- Reagan gaining skill as a ballerina (or maybe trying other styles of dance) and her siblings supporting her
- Hamilton coming out/getting his boyfriend and his family's (positive!) responsive
Olivia Cahill & Madeleine Cahill (39 Clues)
- Olivia's adventures to create the serum antidote (with young!Madeleine tagging along)
- Madeleine's training, and other things Olivia taught her over the years
- Grappling with Gideon's legacy (and that of her other siblings)
Solo: Amy Cahill (39 Clues)
- Amy pre-Clue Hunt, either on a trip to Grace's or just trying to make it through a typical day/week
- Trying to grow into the responsibilities of leading the Madrigals
- What were her favorite books/genres to read? What are some times things she learned came in handy?
- Her relationship with Dan and how it changed over the years
Solo: Jonah Wizard (39 Clues)
- Relationship with his family - bonding with Phoenix or his dad, his strained relationship with Cora, etc.
- Day in the life (before or after the Clue Hunt) - What does his daily schedule (on or off tour) look like? How do branch duties fit into it?
- Relationship with his celebrity status, especially as he grew more famous or got older.
- I'd love to see more of Jonah's music, particularly its development over the years. Are there any songs he's too embarrassed to sing?
Solo: Sinead Starling (39 Clues)
- Life before the Clue Hunt (and after) - How did she get involved in Cahill business? (And, somewhat relatedly, where are her parents?)
- Relationship with her brothers, especially pre-explosion - How well did they get along? What did they fight over? What were their normal lives like?
- Aftermath of the explosion and recovery - How did it change her (and her relationship with Ned and Ted)?
- Sinead as a Vesper - I don't think this plot was well-done in the books, but I'm open to seeing her decision to change sides in greater depth (and the fallout from it)
- "I spied on and tried to shoot my best friend. AITA?"
WB: changes to history (39 Clues)
- Post-1507 historical figure of your choice is a Cahill. What branch are they? What does this change/recontextualize about their actions?
- What are some of the most notable adventures in clue hunting over the years? How were they stopped?
- I don't think it's up anymore, but I have very fond memories of CahillWeb, which was in-universe social media/wikipedia pages (and top-secret branch documents), on Scholastic's old site for the series. In particular, I really liked the ILikeUselessFacts (which was what the not!Wikipedia pages were called) and the "edit wars" within them. Something like that (or a fight on r/History) would be great.
- Conspiracy board and/or post about the Cahills (getting laughed out of hand, half by people who think it's overreaching and half by people in the know), either historical acts or the Clue Hunt/CvV/Unstoppable
- Art of historical Cahills, particularly in a period style
WB: the Vespers (39 Clues)
- Did any Cahills figure out/suspect the Vespers ahead of time? (Pre-Into the Gauntlet conspiracy board with a bunch of random incidents and/or cities circled)
- What is the Vespers' eventual goal, anyway? What are they trying to accomplish? How has this entangled them with Cahill drama over the years? What proportion of Cahill drama is directly caused by/in fact actually Vesper drama?
- Organizational structure - There's canonically a ruling council (...which has someone who's been a Vesper for like, 3 years tops in it) and the implication that some (but not all) agents beyond that are numbered. When, how and why did the council of six get its very specific format with extremely specific duties for each seat. How does the ranking system work? Are Vespers 7-39 (or 50, 100, 666, etc.) also in specific roles, or is it determined some other way?
- How are Vespers recruited? What kinds of missions do they typically do?
- How is the Trent family implicated in all this? Is Shep secretly a Vesper agent?
WB: Any
- Cahill tech - I love the wacky inventions the cards came up with. How did things like spy braces or the rocket skateboard (or Irina's poison nails) get developed? How do they work (blueprints/schematics/explanatory documents welcome)? How do you patent something too classified for anyone outside the branch to know about?
- In general, how are agents recruited? How are they paid? ("They're not, that's why half of them are teenagers" is a valid answer.) What kind of missions are typical?
- Mythologizing of the fire (and how the different branches tell the story differently over time)
- The Serum - How did Gideon get the idea/source the ingredients?
H.I.V.E. Series - Mark Walden
Length Opt-In: Any Nominated Fanfiction Opt-In, Medium Opt In: Any - Any In-Universe Documents, Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart, Medium Opt In: Unique Rules - A Softer World style panels, Medium Opt In: Writing - List of things (character) is not allowed to do, Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart Cover/Illustration of Recipient's Fic, Medium Opt In: Art - Fancomic of Recipient's Fic, Medium Opt In: Art - Remix - Art Remix of my Fic, Medium Opt In: Writing - Remix - Fic Remix of my Fic, Medium Opt In: Writing - Recursive Fic of Any of the Recip's Works In This Fandom, Medium Opt In: Art - A Softer World style art, Medium Opt In: Art - Comics, Medium Opt In: Art - Conspiracy Board, Medium Opt In: Art - Tool Schematic
Laura Brand & Wing Fanchu & Otto Malpense & Shelby Trinity (H.I.V.E.)
- The Core Four! Mostly looking for shenanigans, but I'd also love to see how their friendship has changed as they have.
- In H.I.V.E., anything you haven't been caught for in 24 hours you've probably gotten away with. What are some things the core four have gotten away with?
- Life after H.I.V.E. (and them still occasionally getting together to do schemes - or even an AU where they go back to the school as teachers)
- Otto and Wing decide to join the boy's water polo team
Solo: Laura Brand (H.I.V.E.)
- Exploits pre-H.I.V.E. (and government documents freaking out about a teenager hacking the nuclear warning system) or post-graduation
- Relationship with her parents (and Douglas) - They're all great, and I'd love to see more of them together
- Accidentally becoming the Tech Support Friend (for stuff related to coding and stuff like "if you click the button with the microphone icon so that a slash goes through it, it mutes your mic")
Solo: Maximilian Nero (H.I.V.E.)
- Day-to-Day running of H.I.V.E.
- How did he get into villainy? What were some of his pre-H.I.V.E. schemes? How many times has he tried the fire truck gag?
- Where did he get the idea to join the school?
- Relationship with Raven, particularly given Bloodline spoilers
- Relationship with Nathaniel
- Relationship with his various employees (and having to deal with their hijinks)
Solo: Nigel Darkdoom (H.I.V.E.)
- Relationship with his parents - what we see of him and Diabolus is very adorable, and I'd love more of that (either post-canon - or immediately post-Deadlock - or before Diabolus faked his own death). I'm also curious what his relationship with his mother is like - or, for that matter, what Mrs. Darkdoom is like at all.
- Development of his interest in botany - maybe starting with gardening and working his way up to great evil? or his non-Violet (accidental) plant monsters
- Evil schemes post-H.I.V.E.
Solo: Raven (H.I.V.E.)
- Life pre-Glasshouse, or moments of happiness inside it
- Learning how to become a kid again after the first Glasshouse was destroyed/bonding with Nero after he caught her
- Particularly interesting missions over the years
- Relationship with various students - a mentor figure to Wing, six month long murder field trip with Otto, etc.
- Relationship with Nero (especially given Bloodline spoilers) and other members of staff
Solo: Theodore Pike (H.I.V.E.)
- Science experiments that went horribly wrong and/or right
- How did he become an evil scientist?
- Relationships with other H.I.V.E. staff - he seems close to Colonel Francisco in Zero Hour, and of course there's the whole "turned Mrs. Leon into a cat" thing.
- Relationship with Nathaniel - aka when you're long-distance chess friends with your boss' estranged dad
WB: Formation of H.I.V.E. (H.I.V.E.)
- Various campuses over time - What were previous iterations like? Why were they forced to move?
- Development of the stream system
- How has the curriculum changed over the years?
- How has the isolation policy evolved in an ever more connected social media landscape?
- How were various staff members recruited?
WB: Technology (H.I.V.E.)
- Safety measures (or lack thereof) - What are lab rules at H.I.V.E. like? (How many of them does Pike break as a matter of course?) Do Technical students need to take something like "Safety and Ethics in Mad Science"?
- AI development - How and why was Overlord/H.I.V.E.mind developed? Who else has AI technology, and how do they use it?
- Cloning - How were Otto and his "siblings" made? How did the cloning process affect their development? How were the computers in their heads implanted? How do the implants give the clones their powers, and are there any abilities yet to be discovered? Do these implants have any vulnerabilities (blocked by a Faraday cage, hackable, etc.)?
- Ms. Leon - How (and why) did Professor Pike develop something that would swap her and her cat's minds? How long did it take to develop the collar so that she could speak again? Are the prototypes/blueprints for either of these still around?
- Medical technology - even besides the cloning, medical tech seems more advanced than the tech in our world; Colonel Francisco's prosthetic hand is more advanced than most (if not all) prosthetics today, and it's at least a few years old. There's also the ability of several characters to come back from near-death entirely unharmed (and also get knocked unconscious with limited ill effects)
- Raven's swords - I just think they're neat
- Darkdoom's "toys" - How were they designed/constructed?
WB: Any
- H.I.V.E. classes - What's the curriculum? How does it differ between the streams?
- How do supervillains arise in a world without superheroes?
- The Voice - How did it come to be? What are its limits? What are some particularly clever uses of it over the years?
- Outsider's conceptions of H.I.V.E./G.L.O.V.E. - Either the general public (before vs after Escape Velocity) or Project Artemis (who definitely have a conspiracy board by now)
Honor Harrington Series - David Weber
Length Opt-In: Any Nominated Opt-In, Medium Opt In: Any - Any In-Universe Documents, Medium Opt In: Poetry - Any Nominated Style of Poetry, Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart, Medium Opt In: Unique Rules - A Softer World style panels, Medium Opt In: Writing - List of things (character) is not allowed to do, Medium Opt In: Art - A Softer World style art, Medium Opt In: Art - Comics, Medium Opt In: Art - Conspiracy Board, Medium Opt In: Art - Stained Glass, Medium Opt In: Art - Tapestry, Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart Cover/Illustration of Recipient's Fic, Medium Opt In: Art - Fancomic of Recipient's Fic, Medium Opt In: Art - Remix - Art Remix of my Fic, Medium Opt In: Writing - Remix - Fic Remix of my Fic, Medium Opt In: Writing - Recursive Fic of Any of the Recip's Works In This Fandom
Honor Harrington/Paul Tankersley (Honor Harrington)
- They're very sweet together. I like that they both have a good sense of humor, and Paul is a grounding influence on her.
- Taking some leave together - date night, going hang-gliding or sailing
- Paul lives AU - either he avoided the duelling field or Summervale doesn't quite manage to kill him)
Solo: Eloise Pritchart (Honor Harrington)
- I like how Pritchart is fiercely principled and dedicated to her cause, even when she appears to have outlasted it.
- Life as an Aprillist - working her way up through the ranks, doing missions (and dealing with subordinates) as Brigade Commander Delta, the moment just after the Harris assassination where everything's up in the air and just might work out
- Her reports as Citizen Commissioner (and conspiring with Giscard to get what they want from the Committee)
- Life as President of Haven - trying to rebuild, her schedule and responsibilities
Solo: Honor Harrington (Honor Harrington)
- Honor as a child/teen - one of the things I like most about her is her determination to do the right thing no matter how difficult, and I imagine that started very young. (I'd also guess that, in Yawata Crossing, her parents' professions + treecat would also give a sneak peek to the "has tremendous power and influence and uses them well" theme of the later books)
- (Mis)adventures at the Academy with Mike Henke or on various early postings (as much as I love War Goddess Stateswoman Harrington of the later books, scrappy!Honor remains my favorite, and pre-Basilisk Station is a great time to do that)
- A day in the life, as an officer or Steadholder or Duchess
- Practicing coup/fencing/shooting or hang-gliding/sailing
- Relationship with Nimitz and how that's evolved over the years
Solo: Thomas Theisman (Honor Harrington)
- I enjoy the way he and Honor are foils to each other - both with strong moral compasses and senses of duty, but where Honor's typically align Theisman's often conflict.
- Time at the academy - why did he join the Navy? What was his reputation like then?
- The worst drunken night he has ever had (and why it tops "accidentally signing your maybe-friend's death warrant")
- Planning and executing the Theisman coup and the immediate aftermath
Victor Cachat & Anton Zilwicki (Honor Harrington)
- Chaotic Good meets Chaotic Chaotic. Spies! Intrigue! Drama!
- Attempts by uninvolved parties to stitch together what the hell happened in Chicago, with Cachat and/or Zilwicki's explanations Not Helping
- Figuring each other out in the early days of Torch and working together on Mesa
- Some of Victor's other "plans"/List of things Victor Cachat is no longer allowed to do
- For an AU where the Torch series didn't progress as it does and the two are still spies for their respective governments - a series of alternate meetings, wildly different locales and "oh this guy again"
WB: Hades (Honor Harrington)
- Who are some of the other people to end up there? How? (AUs where other characters end up there through a twist of fate also welcome). What other "dead" characters are on the prison planet?
- What was life like for the average inmate? How did it differ from life at Camp Charon?
- How did it evolve from a relatively small-scale place to dump political prisoners to the massive operation we see in Echoes of Honor? What (if anything) changed when StateSec took over?
- What happened with the other two Kilkenny Camps? (An in-depth look at Benson/Dessioux's former camp would also be welcome).
WB: Treecats (Honor Harrington)
- Treecat art and culture - I'm curious how a society consisting exclusively of telepaths would structure itself differently than a non-telepathic one. How does the inability to lie affect inter-clan politics? What kind of figurative art do treecats have? Are there treecat poets (particularly after the development of sign)?
- Perception of treecats by the public over time - from fuzzy little buzzsaws to active participants in the war against Mesa
- A closer look at the development of sign
WB: Any
- Havenite politics - how are the various opposition/rebellion groups pre-Pierre coup related, and what are the politics between them? How did various people get recruited? How did these relationships change after the Committee came to power?
- Theisman coup and aftermath - What was the first day/week/month after Saint-Just's death like? How did various characters (Pritchart and Giscard, the Ushers and Victor) get back to Haven? What was the public's reaction (especially given the McQueen coup and Octagon bombing just before)?
- Theisman's mother - a throwaway character mentioned in one (very intriguing) paragraph of In Enemy Hands. What happened to her after she gave Thomas up? (Did she become a revolutionary? Join the navy? Just live a normal life until one day her baby shot Saint-Just in the head?)
- Grayson - How is Grayson history (the founding, Grayson Civil War, etc.) remembered in popular culture? What are some other things that Graysons brought along with them when they left Earth? How did Grayson tech evolve over time?
- Grayson's Art - What's Grayson's religious art like? Are there common/repeating motifs? How are people like Barbara Bancroft commemorated? Its popular music seems to be space themed parodies of country & western music (and if that idea sparks your fancy, by all means go for it) or (already existing) hymns - what other music is there? How has it been corrupted from the styles we know by time and distance?
- Art in General - What are some notable pieces of future art/media? How do styles of creation (e.g., poetry, animation, even fashion) differ between different parts of the settled universe? What are some pieces of art of particular importance to various characters?
- The Mesan Alignment - When was it founded? (The dates given in the main series conflict with the timeline of Honor's ancestors in the Star Kingdom prequels.) Was anyone (e.g., their old enemy Beowulf) aware of it before the conspiracy was uncovered in canon?
- Founding a Colony - How are colonies initially established? What is on colony ships? (Very adaptable - and cryo-friendly - flora and fauna, prefab habitats, equipment to determine if the local flora and fauna is edible, etc.?) How does this process differ based on the target planet and when the ship left?
- Many of the planets we see in Honorverse are pretty hostile to human life. How did early colonists discover this? How did they deal with these perils? I'd love a look at Potsdam during the cellulose-eating-bacteria years or Manticore during the Great Plague or Calvin's Hope discovering their world is broken and having to course-correct or Grayson discovering the heavy metal problem right after scuttling their ships.
The Mysterious Benedict Society - Trenton Lee Stewart
Length Opt-In: Any Nominated Fanfiction Opt-In, Medium Opt In: Any - Any In-Universe Documents, Medium Opt In: Poetry - Any Nominated Style of Poetry, Medium Opt In: Art - Fanart, Medium Opt In: Unique Rules - A Softer World style panels, Medium Opt In: Writing - List of things (character) is not allowed to do, Medium Opt In: Art - A Softer World style art, Medium Opt In: Art - Comics, Medium Opt In: Art - Tool Schematic, Medium Opt In: Unique Rules - Logic Grid Puzzle
Thoughts on the Logic Grid puzzle opt in
- I enjoy logic puzzles in my free time (both straightforward and difficult ones), and I think they'd fit really well with the tone of these books! (Especially ones where you have to go through the clueset more than once, which I find clever but admittedly am not good at.) A couple ideas for potential subjects:
- The Mysterious Benedict Society going out for lunch or trying to work together on Nomansan Island
- Kate's chores on the farm or acts at the circus
- Ten Men on the run (and having to figure out which one's where)
Constance & Reynie & Sticky & Kate (Mysterious Benedict Society)
- The titular society! I love how they balance out each others, both in terms of strengths & weaknesses and in terms of personality.
- Meeting under different circumstances and still becoming friends
- The letters they send to each other between books
- Continuing adventures after Prisoner's Dilemma
Milligan & Kate Wetherall (Mysterious Benedict Society)
- I find their reunion at the end of the first book and subsequent relationship very sweet.
- Relationship before Milligan got brainswept - baby Kate and the mill pond
- Learning to live together (& with Moocho) after the first book
- Kate gaining secret agent skills from her father
Solo: Kate Wetherall (Mysterious Benedict Society)
- Kate as a child at the circus
- Madge - I love her in the second book, particularly Kate's attitude of "I have a pet who can peck your eyes out! She's so soft, wanna pet her?" How did Kate get her? How has their relationship changed over the years?
- The Bucket - I'd love to see the origins of it, as well as how it (and its contents) have changed over the years
- Adjusting to normal(ish) life after the first book - what's life on the farm like?
- Kate in normal school seems like a recipe for disaster, and I'd love to see how that goes between the first book and Perilous Journey
WB: Any
- Other exceptional children Mr. Benedict found over the years - What tests were presented to previous candidates? Did people other than Rhonda, Number Two, and the Society pass?
- Development and refinement of Mr. Benedict's test - How did Rhonda and Number Two pass?
- The progress of the Emergency
- Executives/Messengers - it's implied at least some of them were kidnapped and brainswept. Who were they and what were they like before that point? Where did S.Q. come from in particular?
- Helpers - why were they brainswept? Who were they before they ended up on the island? How do they rebuild their lives after they regain their memories?
- The Ten Men's/Recruiter's equipment - how was it developed? Are the items standard or are their differences from person to person?
- The Whisperer/Brainsweeper - How do they work, and how did Mr. Curtain design them? (Is a failed initial run part of the reason why S.Q. is so different from the other Executives?)
- Kate's mother - Is she actually dead or "merely departed"? What was she like before her death? How did she and Milligan meet?
